When will HTML5 replace the insecure flash?

And yes he is indeed insecure, because he's not very good at keeping the viruses at bay and it makes him feel like less of a ``man''.

D'ohoho.

No one seems to care about HTML5.  It's only robust entry point is Apple, but I don't think one person's vendetta should be a defining reason for any conversion.

Steve Jobs may be the WORLD'S BIGGEST ASSHOLE,

but fuck, if there was an implement large enough to beat the shit out of everyone who ever worked for Macromedia, and everyone who ever worked for Adobe afterward, I WOULD GIVE IT TO HIS DIVINE BLACK-TURTLENECKED ARROGANCE if it would get the beating done faster and with one click.

once NaCl is supported by the major browsers (hopefully games will drive consumer demand, just like they did for graphics cards, ram and CPU performance) and portable, the distinction between plug-ins and desktop applications will be gone

if you hate flash, you can implement something better

Already done. It's call Real Desktop Applications (TM).

In before HTML5 morphs into an insecure, uncontrollable monster replacement (hello, moving spec!). Luckily, by then you won't have one party responsible for security bugs (that is, Adobe), but every browser vendor will have a few different bugs! Awesome, right?

Sounds like all the previous versions of the spec too. So much awesome.
