Vroomvroom-san floats in river

The benchmark is bullshit. The C version uses OMP for threading which is notoriously slow and bloated in the GCC implementation of it.

I could rewrite it using Posix threads and a sprinkling of atomic operations for wait-free/lock-free execution, maybe a few more cache-friendly optimizations and I guarantee you it would be faster than SBCL.

Posix threads are not portable.

TOO BAD C IS PLATFORM DEPENDENT AS FUCK

Implying there are noteworthy platforms besides POSIX.

As if BeOS is not dead.

Well, I don't know how to say this but, you know, Windows is much more used than all the currently POSIX-compliant OSes out there combined.

If you want to go ````real world'''', do it properly.

That's how everyone knows(like if we cared) that you are amateur and not ENTERPRISE PROGRAMMING EXPERT. When you want THE ENTERPRISE QUALITY, you want normal OSes and not that flashy secretary-with-boobs-friendly collection of games like "MShearts", "miner" aka WINDOW$.

Of course, if you are casual programmer, then programming for win is ok for you.

Remember, kid, if your OS has no ed after installation, then your OS is a joke or trolls you hard.

implying anyone here codes for, or would in their right mind consider coding for, broken ass shitty Winblozes

Name: Anonymous 2011-02-08 11:50

implying anyone here > implies.
Also, Windows is the real ``real world'', UNIX is a toy OS. So, let's go back to Scheme and Lisp and shut up.

How can you deliver a robust, secure, scalable, turnkey, XML-enabled, synergetic, interoperable, ENTEPRISE-grade, high-quality, low-cost, Java-interoperable, COM-aware solution without Windows?

Funny thing is that I see less and less of Windows (especially with Myspace dying) in the datacenter. And there ain't nuffin more Real World(tm) than big server iron.
Ergo you're wrong, bitch.
