What is the difference between using return (0) and return (EXIT_SUCCESS) at the end of main?

Name: Anonymous 2011-01-26 21:53

EXIT_SUCCESS is not guaranteed to be 0 all the systems.

Get the fuck out.

Name: Anonymous 2011-01-26 21:55

Neither is meant to use parentheses.

Get the fuck out.

There is no difference. Here are the relevant quotes from the latest version of the current C standard (n1256.pdf):

5.1.2.2.3p1: [...] a return from the initial call to the main function is equivalent to calling the exit function with the value returned by the main function as its argument [...]

7.20.4.3p5: [...] If the value of [the argument to exit] is zero or EXIT_SUCCESS, an implementation-defined form of the status successful termination is returned [(to the host environment)] [...]

EXIT_SUCCESS is better because more people will know what it means intuitively.
