no no no, you wouldn't

you'd create new threads by joining #new,
where you'd set the /topic to the title of your message
and type away.
you'd end with a line that says 'post!',
at which point the server'd put the channel +m
and post the log in a new thread on /prog/.
it'd then look for the thread on /prog/
and move you to the correct #thread-id.
