Ken Thompson should work on Linux

Name: Anonymous 2011-01-15 23:43

For those who dont know the unix OS was started by Ken Thompson who was originally trying to make a video game on an unused computer at AT&T. It then grew into an OS as a file system was added and other components. Ken is now working at Google, and Google uses the Linux OS for Android. So wouldnt it be a good idea to let the father of Linux work on its most successful offspring? Im sure that Google can lend Ken for a month or so to work on Linux for the betterment of computing.

obsession with proper spelling

So you ```````imply''''''' that everyone who've learned <insert-language-here> are autists? What kinda silly logic is that?

BTW, i'm not >>25-san.

People who care enough about proper spelling and punctuation to routinely lose their temper because somebody on the internet wrote something with a minor mistake in it obviously have some kind of mental problem.

Also, cocks.

I don't think Ken Thompson would have any interest in working on Linux (or any *nix, for that matter), since it ignores Plan 9 as an improvement on Unix, and would probably be considered a sad throwback by him.

Plan 9 tries to make things "better" by completely ignoring all existing technologies, and instead fucking reinvent everything.

If that's the way the typical UNIX User things, then I'm glad that UNIX is an operating system that becomes extinct.... with the exception of Linux, especially since Linux isn't UNIX, but GNU doesn't count; Go away with your GNU assfuckery.

The MASTERRACE is clearly Linux. Who gives a shit about some niggerjewfaggotdouche who invented some utterly useless operating system 90000000000000000 years ago, that still tries to fight against modern technologies?

Still being UNIX-y.

We NEED a Lisp OS, or something similiar for non-Lisp speaking people.

Like a JAVA OS?

As long it has what Lisp machines had, it could even be a PHP OS.

Replace init by Emacs and there you go.

Yep, Plan 9 started over from scratch, beginning with stone tools and building up from there to a complete computer operating system.

This confirms that Emacs is a pretty good OS, it just lacks a kernel (not a ``good editor'', it has ed-mode)

Name: Anonymous 2011-01-16 18:52

You just listed a bunch of more or less simple protocols and file types, standardized hashing algorithms and a programming language, which all existed for an arguably long time. Besides that, neither C, nor http, ftp, cifs, smb, png, jpeg, pdf, mpeg, IPs, tcp, udp, tftp, dns, utf, irc, etc, are supermodern, or anything to envy. Especially not HTTP, FTP and C.

But i'm talking about stuff that got ``invented'' recently. If you don't know what i'm talking about, you probably should refrain from posting in this thread.

Thanks for the link, that's exactly what I was referring to.

Why would Plan 9 have stuff that was invented recently? Plan 9 is a 20-year-old operating system

>If you don't know what i'm talking about, you probably should refrain from posting in this thread.
If I don't know what you're talking about, you probably haven't explained your point very well. In fact, you haven't at all.
