alright /prog/, I'm reading through SICP. what scheme implementation should I use?

Name: Anonymous 2011-01-11 16:20

Through SICP: MIT/GNU Scheme.
After SICP: Racket.

MIT/GNU scheme would be a reasonable choice.

You could use any, but as far as I'm aware only MIT Scheme and Racket have support for the picture language from Chapter 2.

You could just try your hand with racket. The syntax will be different in some places (e.g.: the use of when), but it'll be close enough and you'll have a decent editor with a humane UI and a serviceable REPL with a debugger.

Ah, I forgot. Check out the nightly builds on their site. DrRacket (the IDE) has been revamped to use GTK+ on Linux and no longer looks like arse (if you have a non-arse looking theme).
