Hey /prog/,

(New guy here, be gentle)

I'm just starting out with Java/Android development and I was wondering if you could recommend any resources. I'd really appreciate it. My only real programming experience is in VB, which isn't real programming from what I hear.

I'll try.

Java
My only ... programming experience is in VB

I don't recommend you to start programming with Java, you have first to unlearn the bad habits of VB before acquiring Java's (that is still bad).

It's for a mobile app development course. It's Objective C for iOS or Java for Android.

I did a little Java about 2 years ago but don't remember a ton. I haven't forgotten :
public static void main(String[] args)

But that's about it.

VB is more recent and nothing crazy in depth but more than "Hello world" and is still fresh in my head.

there are a bunch of good books out for Android programming, just enter Android in an Amazon search

Don't change these.
