Why is it that

public class apples{
    int x;
    int y;
}

takes up much more memory when in huge quantities than

struct apples{
    int x;
    int y;
}

Name: Anonymous 2010-12-10 21:06

Yeah, that's the problem with PHP.

Why? Memory usage is not a problem in 2010!

Now you have two problems.

Name: Anonymous 2010-12-11 11:26

You can't just throw a wildcard statement like that around when there are many different types of applications with different memory usage patterns.

Name: Anonymous 2010-12-11 15:21

That hasn't been funny for ages.

Now you have an amount of problems tending to infinite.

Memory being cheap compared to how it used to be is no reason for sloppy coding and ignoring memory problems.

Name: Anonymous 2010-12-11 18:55

Why did they create php? why couldn't they have left well enough alone?

Name: Anonymous 2010-12-11 19:00

OP here, php had nothing to do with the code actually. java vs C was what i was comparing

Name: Anonymous 2010-12-11 19:45

Oh.
Well, one's Java and the other is C.

Is C-style coding in java recommended or will it just make it worse?

Name: Anonymous 2010-12-11 20:15

>>19
Java is not recommended.

Name: Anonymous 2010-12-11 20:18

>>20
well what if i have to use java for said project. Should i go C style or just stick with OOP style

Name: Anonymous 2010-12-11 20:37

>>21
As soon as you've established Java as an immutable element of your project, there is no hope anymore.

Name: Anonymous 2010-12-11 21:05

Oh yeah? Tell that to the Azureus people, faggot.

Name: Anonymous 2010-12-11 21:36

There's a reason no one is using it anymore.

Name: Anonymous 2010-12-11 22:17

The only thing I've ever found Java useful for is some instances of rapid prototyping.  There's just enough shortcuts to create at least a stable simulation of what you intend to complete in a much better language.
You still have accomplished nothing until it is been implemented in the said better language.

>>1 Because they have little in common. Struct is nothing short of way to group primitive types together with absolutely no overhead in runtime. As for the implementation of Class, learn implementing OOP.
