I came to this board expecting to see 'programming' but instead I got a bunch of social rejects trying their hardest to fit in by monkeying [witty] insider memes.
Seriously, you guys are fucking autistic--and this is coming from a person from /jp/. Is K&R, SICP, memes, and 'get back to /g/' all you guys talk about. I was fine with /prog/'s culture a few years ago because back then /prog/ used to have a decent ratio between serious and sarcastic discussions. But nowadays it's just a bunch of scavengers going from thread to thread trying (and failing) to give the first witty responses. Now I see why all of the good programmers have left this board.
Thanks for proving my theory that no board on 4chan lives up to its name. Enjoy your /g/ with classes. Sincerely, /jp/.
Anyone with access to a suitable thesaurus (read: the internet) can make themselves sound cerebrally capable in the right context (read: the internet). Overly flowery speech and a vocabulary that attempts to express the notion of intelligence instead of making an actual interesting statement is simply another way to be vulgar by filling the vacuum with useless syllables.

I think that may have been what happened, except none of the topics he cares for and has made threads on have yet intersected with topics we also care for.

All threads I made in the past got filled with same meme bullshit OP is complaining about. I still open the /prog/ front page periodically, but there are no discussions going that I'm interested in now, none at all. Congratulations, whoever the spammer is, you killed /prog/. Great use for your time.

See, for two fucking years now there’s been this fucking bullshit, and no one’s buying it. It’s got to be one of the least productive ways you could possibly spend your time.

As another person from /jp/, I find that /prog/'s quality has degraded, mostly because of the usual /b/tard invasions. I don't think I need to remind you that /jp/ gets the same crap.
