Changing IMEI Numbers

Name: Anonymous 2010-10-23 17:24

I am looking for some information regarding changing IMEI numbers on blocked phones.

Any information would be good, but blackberrys & iphones specifically, don't mention ZIPhone.

Thanks

Mobile phone theft has fuck-all to do with programming.

Depending on the language, it's as simple as IMEI = num; or (set! IMEI new-number)

It's NP complete

>>1 ,
It is easy.  Just follow these three easy steps:
1. Buy a new identical phone from an authorized reseller.  For the Apple iPhone 4, ¿may I recommend your nearest Apple Retail Store?
2. Pretend it's the same phone as the blocked one
3. ¡The IMEI will be different!

As an added step in order to help out the environment, you should drop off the blocked phone at an electronics recycling facility near you.

MONEY-SAVING TIP: In the future, don't steal or receive stolen phones.

I'll actually going to help you here, even though it isnt related towards programming, just because I was in this situation a few weeks ago.

I tried it for a blackberry 3g 9300 I found, but it wasnt recognised by the MFI multi-loader; thus it didn't work.

However, the much simpler option, which i'm going to do is sell it abroad via ebay or the likes because it's only blocked in your country (Im assuming UK because it cant be blocked in USA).

So how do you know which IMEI to change it too?

Or you could do the ethical thing and turn it over to the police or lost-and-found, so the actual owner can get his toy back.

You feel guilty and desire to pay reparations for that offensive act.

this is why CDMA is superior. the official firmware for the phone i have includes a tool that can change the MEID.

i've not actually had any use for that particular feature, but it's nice to know that i can have complete control over my phone instead of being at the mercy of a bunch of idiots who can't tell the difference between "*" and "#".
