Hi /prog/,

I'm a Computer Science major (soph) that's looking for a co-op position for this summer. I want to get some great experience, but I don't have a prestigious school to back me up with employers.

I haven't done many projects outside school assignments, but I want to start. The problem is that I just go completely blank when I try to think of an idea. All that I can come up with is to get into some app making in Android.

Is this a good idea to get companies to keep looking at me as an employee? Or is there something else I should be looking into doing?

You should look into reading SICP.

Android is dead. iPhone is the future.

iPhone died 3 years ago. Have you been living under a rock or something?

iPhone is dead. Its only pro being the videogames market. But we already knew that a couple of years ago.

Android, on the other side, is doing far better. Its main drawback is iPhone's strength (commercial videogames); everything else already improved iPhone's best or going to. Of course, it gets even better if you're running the latest version and root it.

If you added globally indexed extended attributes to ext4 and several tools for easy management of such, Anonymous would respect you.
