This is why Haskell programmers would do well to brush up on theory. Go learn Prolog, and make a newtype.
The MPW C compiler back in the day had it's share of amusing error messages.
"Symbol table full - fatal heap error; please go buy a RAM upgrade from your local Apple dealer"
"This label is the target of a goto from outside of the block containing this label AND this block has an automatic variable with an initializer AND your window wasn't wide enough to read this whole error message"
"type in (cast) must be scalar; ANSI 3.3.4; page 39, lines 10-11 (I know you don't care, I'm just trying to annoy you)"
I have no idea what it means or how to produce it, but it's in the old Minix kernel.

I can't believe that stack pointer monadic overflow hasn't been posted yet.

It's the unixy way of saying "Use a real tty next time, asshole." All *nix systems either have that error message or an equivalent one using ioctl jargon.

I like this one from where both drives of the mirror set died (of course it happened on a Sunday and resulted in a trip to the cage to fix it):
root@admin3:~# init 6
init: Not being executed as init
root@admin3:~# reboot
-bash: /sbin/reboot: Input/output error
