could /prog/ create a minimalist tiling window manager that has an infinite 'canvas' which is viewed through a screen-sized view-port; where the view port can zoom in or out of the canvas, with a sloppy mouse focus?

Well, yes, I know of ZUI, but searches have started returning iPhone in the examples, which isn't what I want.

And a full on ZUI is a bit more than what I want.
