Liscense key cracking

So /prog/ now that it's legal to crack software license keys, I'm wondering how hard it would be for someone relatively inexperienced in the art of programming to write a key cracker or bypass the software that prevents me from using the software? Is this something only reserved for 37337 h4x0rs who trained in Donald Knuth's dojo?

but I made an A in my programming class. Most of you guys made C++ from what I make of it. I even make my own websites for a fotrune 500 company. I can even change I really need to crack this license key so my boss's son can play world of warcraft without him paying. We're also thinking of getting on some of that internet money and we don't want to have to pay for that.
