GObject makes everything painful : 30 lines of obscure macro shit just for a new class declaration, Type casting faggotry powered by more macro, and don't even talk about class inheritance.

What the fuck were they thinking? Why not just C++?

Because the NIH syndrome and reinventing the wheel.
Not like they were wrong not wanting to use C++, but they should have designed a mini-language which would be converted to C code, rather than using existing facilities of C.
