About two years ago, this board used to be good. Now it is complete garbage. It's now impossible to tell the difference between trolls and legitimate posters, considering the fact that most posters are complete dumb-fucks now. And god damned Xarn. I really don't know why this cunt is a meme. I don't give a fuck about him, nor should you. Also, /prog/ now has no memes. None of the old, real memes are being used any more. This board fucking is no good any more, and I suspect it is partly because it had been posted on reddit.
Sigh, yet another shitty metathread that contributes to the decline it claims to hate. But since I'm bored, here's my take
It's now impossible to tell the difference between trolls and legitimate posters
This is both true and false. Anonymity is the "problem" if you want to meaningfully distinguish the two. That said, legitimate posts stick out like a sore thumb. If you can't spot them, then you need to spend more time away from the internet.
considering the fact that most posters are complete dumb-fucks now
How can you tell that the poster is a "dumb fuck" if you can't even distinguish a serious post from a troll?
And god damned Xarn. I really don't know why this cunt is a meme.
You can't blame Xarn for what I will charitably describe as "hero worship". Also, he isn't a meme. I will say this very clearly, spam != meme.
About two years ago, this board used to be good
No it wasn't, go check. I'll wait.
/prog/ now has no memes.
That's actually a good thing.
None of the old, real memes are being used any more.
Again, a good thing.
This board fucking is no good any more
If all you cared about was the "memes" I can see why this would be your conclusion, but that just proves that you were one of the fucking retards dragging this place down.
I suspect it is partly because it had been posted on reddit.
Which first happened well over two years ago, if you didn't have a problem then, you shouldn't have one now.

ok. start a discussion on a programming topic then. and >>14 thanks for the video link! you're awesome! i'm going to start up /usr/bin/links and watch a video on youtube RIGHT NOW

Look. I invented that meme. Not even joking. I used to say it when I was angry because I knew it brought the quality of the place down. I was angry. I felt ashamed. Now, my one failure mocks me at every turn.

"Internet memes" -? Do you mean the like of image macros? Thanks to "meme generators" most of those are not memes.
Either way, the text "back to /b/, please" is not a meme, but the act of posting it is. I wish Dawkins would give up the being religiously against religion thing and talk more about the one thing he got right.
