shiichan is full of bugs

Name: Anonymous 2010-07-18 15:15

someone should fix some of them.

Name: Anonymous 2010-07-18 15:17

MrVacBob-tan occasionally fixes particularly bad ones. It would be nice if there were some sort of bug tracker people could report to, though.

Name: Anonymous 2010-07-18 15:22

the one that's annoying me the most right now is the few posts that have "now":null in the json interface.
xarn's inability to figure out how to correctly parse subject.txt is slightly less annoying.

Your inability to figure out how to use the shift key is annoying.

Name: Anonymous 2010-07-18 15:30

>>4
why would anyone need to use the shift key.

I do not stand for Xarn. I stand for the idea. For example, the idea I stand for today is that >>5 is a typical descriptivist imbecile that is unable to see how detrimental to the language his approach is.

Name: Anonymous 2010-07-18 15:44

>>7
being a prescriptivist imbecile without knowing the history of the language is much more detrimental.

Name: Anonymous 2010-07-18 16:02

>>8
Still going on about Carolingian minuscule, are you? Do they not teach history at your school, or is it just a class you can't take yet?

Name: Anonymous 2010-07-18 16:03

>>3

/prog/scrape parses subject.txt perfectly. The fact that you can't read error messages doesn't change that.

Name: Anonymous 2010-07-18 16:08

>>10
the lines that /prog/scrape rejects can be parsed and those threads do exist.
http://github.com/hotaru2k3/progscrape handles them fine, as does http://github.com/hotaru2k3/progscrape.NET.

Name: Anonymous 2010-07-18 16:25

>>11
I see you decided to skip the bug-reporting step and instead just forked the whole thing and then whined about it. That's certainly the mature thing to do.

I guess it shouldn't surprise me that the three most obnoxious posters on /prog/ all turned out to be the same person.

I see only two of them in this thread.

Name: Anonymous 2010-07-18 16:30

>>11
The lines that /prog/scrape rejects cannot be parsed by the latest version of Shiitchan available. The fact that world4ch is patched to deal with them isn't the problem of a general Shiitchan scraper.

Name: Anonymous 2010-07-18 16:32

I see only two of them in this thread.
FV and the ANUS poster aren't here, and there are at least two different people not using capital letters in this thread.

Name: Anonymous 2010-07-18 16:32

>>13
What's your point?

Name: Anonymous 2010-07-18 16:34

>>14
1. hotaru2k3
2. the guy who whines about Xarn
3. the Carolingian minuscule idiot

Name: Anonymous 2010-07-18 16:34

the latest version of Shiitchan available
You just don't know where to look.

Name: Anonymous 2010-07-18 16:36

>>12
It's been obvious who's the same person here and who that is...

Name: Anonymous 2010-07-18 16:36

The new FV is annoying, but at least he's a deliberate troll and not (really) an actual idiot. I don't mind that so much. And the anus poster usually has the decency to sage his posts, and he doesn't flood whole threads.
They're annoying, but they aren't as actively destructive to conversation as this twit.

Name: Anonymous 2010-07-18 16:37

Back to /b/, please.

Name: Anonymous 2010-07-18 16:43

>>13
I'd really like to know why you think this is relevant. Is it because Xarn didn't do exactly what you asked and therefore you think he doesn't deserve your bug reports? Because that would be hilarious.

Name: Anonymous 2010-07-18 16:44

>>18
i'm one of those, but not the other two. better luck next time.

Name: Anonymous 2010-07-18 16:45

>>18
I'd substitute hotaru with the guy from /b/.
>>16
The new FV isn't annoying (yet) and the anus posted sages his posts (or at least used to sage until recently).

that fork fixes two bugs: one that was reported and closed without being fixed, and one that is declared not to be a /prog/scrape bug in the readme. it's unlikely that xarn will fix either of them.

Name: Anonymous 2010-07-18 16:48

>>21
I find both FVs fun. The posts are usually more entertaining than the mass of shitposting. It's a nice distraction from the fact that /prog/ gets so little worthwhile discussion.

The default value of verify_trips is not a bug, you petulant child, and Xarn's response to that bug report was better than just changing the default settings to whatever a single user happens to prefer.

Name: Anonymous 2010-07-18 17:11

>>31
are you implying that there's something wrong with forking it and fixing it myself if it doesn't work the way i want it to work?

Name: Anonymous 2010-07-18 17:13

>>32
Yes, because you did it without even trying to report a bug first.

Name: Anonymous 2010-07-18 17:15

>>33
read the readme. xarn knows about it but he doesn't think it's a /prog/scrape bug and says he's not going to fix it.

Name: Anonymous 2010-07-18 17:19

>>21
And the anus poster usually has the decency to sage his posts

There are quite a few posters, i admit being the who does the most of them and being also the one that sages.
But not all anus-posters sage their contributions.

so forking actually accomplished something. i guess that's worth putting up with xarn's childish commit message.

Name: Anonymous 2010-07-18 19:18

Yeah, he is definitely the childish one here. Dipshit.

What is the deal with all those Xarn cocksuckers? It seems almost obvious to me that >>10,12,23,31,33,38 are himself posting anonymously.

Name: Anonymous 2010-07-19 4:05

Its some Danish python programmer who wrote a /prog/ webscraper. Since /prog/ can't code anything more complex than fibs, its inevitable that he would become a local deity. Its like camwhores on /b/, except with code snippets.

Name: Anonymous 2010-07-19 8:11

Is shiichan still proper?

Name: Anonymous 2010-07-19 8:52

Is progscrape even open source? It doesn't have a license.

Name: Anonymous 2010-07-19 9:05

I think you underestimate how many people actually dislike hotaru2k3.

Name: Anonymous 2010-07-19 9:08

Xarn was actually a /prog/ celebrity before he wrote progscrape. I'm sure you'd prefer Taro and his imageboard scraper, though.

Name: Anonymous 2010-07-19 14:59

>>49
Wait. People think writing a scraper is worthy of celebrity? /prog/ really is populated with non-programmers.

Name: Anonymous 2010-07-19 15:03

Writing a scraper is a matter of minutes. In fact, wrote /prague/scrape clones in bash and HASKAL last night.

Name: Anonymous 2010-07-19 15:07

I wrote a /prog/ scraper in ANSI C when I was 13 years old.

>>52
It would be if Shiitchan were any good. There's a lot of bugs and corner cases to work around.

Name: Anonymous 2010-07-19 20:02

Why? Because he doesn't care about being a /prog/ celebrity? Because he doesn't desperately want to suck Xarn's dick?
