niggers of #haskell

Name: Anonymous 2010-07-11 11:29

[16:24] donri: za'a do selbau lo nordo doi la lajla
[16:24] SyntaxNinja left the chat room. (Quit: Leaving.)
[16:24] zeussphinx left the chat room. (Quit: zeussphinx)
[16:25] Lajla: donri, you are a nigger, but you program in Haskell, that means you cannot be a nigger, for to program means to have fingers, and to have fingers means to not have leprosy, that means the universe is inconsistent and we are trapped in a simulated reality by evil machines, Q.E.D.
[16:25] zeussphinx joined the chat room.
[16:25] nus: "Liskell brings meta-programming to the Haskell world by introducing the concept of parse tree transformers (ptt). This concept is more general than the meta-programming
[16:25] nus: facilities defmacro and symbol-macrolet in Common Lisp. Liskell provides a single hook into the compiler, namely envlet."
[16:26] Lajla: Maybe it's hygienic high level.
[16:26] donri: Lajla: I'm no nigger for I'm a faggot.
[16:26] rdrake joined the chat room.
[16:26] Lajla: I don't see how it can be more general than defmacro, as defmacro can take any turing complete function.
[16:27] Lajla: donri, ah, that explains all, having aids does not praeclude one's ability to type.
[16:27] zeussphinx left the chat room. (Client Quit)
[16:27] soupdragon: shut up
[16:27] donri: I don't type, for I program in Python.
[16:27] p_l: excuse me, I think I missed #haskell and entered #/prog/
[16:27] p_l: ...

Nobody gives a shit. Go whine about it in #/prog/.

Name: Anonymous 2010-07-11 11:37

Mr Sage-san: There is no #/prog/.

You are wrong. It's on Rizon. It's like #sicp, except instead of intelligent, knowledgeable people it has anus spammers and /b/tards.

Name: Anonymous 2010-07-11 11:43

>>4
As is to be expected, as it's mostly people too inept to figure out which network #sicp is on.

Name: Anonymous 2010-07-11 12:32

Is this really what #haskell is like?

Aren't summerfriends fun?

Name: Anonymous 2010-07-11 13:34

I wouldn't use language like that, Anonymous, it has recently been proved that newfriends themselves complain about newfriends.  (Source: /jp/ radio earlier this week where two of the newfriend hosts complained about newfriends while the third more experienced host did not join in on the conversation.)

Back to /*/, please. The summer phenomenon is unrelated to the ``newfag'' nonsense you imageboard morons suffer from.

Name: Anonymous 2010-07-11 13:40

See also: September.

soupdragon appears in #scheme on freenode, but they appear to behave themselves

Can we stop with the #sicp circlejerk, or you may find it filled with fucktards quicker than you'd like.

Name: Anonymous 2010-07-11 14:05

You're using a very peculiar definition of the word ``circlejerk''. Maybe you should stick to Reddit.
And fortunately, IRC has had the ability to kick people from channels for almost as long as it has existed.

Well it would seem peculiar if you only take this particular thread into account, but this self aggrandising view you have of yourselves has been popping up more and more frequently. I'd have thought that a bunch of "intelligent" people, would have learned not to advertise their Eden in a cesspit.

Bet you can't back that up with data.

I'd have thought that a bunch of "intelligent" people, would have learned not to advertise their Eden in a cesspit.
All of #sicp came from /prog/. It's not a case of advertising Eden in a cesspit so much as skimming the cream from a barrel of admittedly fairly rancid milk.
The problems that affect /prog/ nowadays don't really translate to IRC, with its pseudonymity and active ops.

Only anecdotal. I can only say that it happens enough to be noticeable.

Name: Anonymous 2010-07-11 15:14

I made #scip and left it quickly due to the Java loving cretins that joined it.

Name: Anonymous 2010-07-11 16:51

The #sicp twitter circlejerk is quite odd!

Name: Anonymous 2010-07-11 17:04

if prog is such a shithole then why do you @sicp ppl post here huh

Name: Anonymous 2010-07-11 17:30

>>18
because they have no friends.

Name: Anonymous 2010-07-11 17:38

>>18
Well I post here because I've been doing so for ~3 years, and it's not a shithole all the time
