Google to buy ITA Software for $700 million in cash:

It's well known that ITA software employs a number of Lispers and that their backend for their software is written in Lisp, while the front end was written in some other language, possibly Java, but I might be mistaken about that. I remember hearing somewhere that the backend was at least some 500KLOC of Common Lisp code.
The obvious question here is what will happen to their codebase. Did Google just buy them to get a foothold in the aero search/reservation business and do they plan on porting/rewriting their huge codebase. If they do attempt such a crazy thing, I suspect and hope that it'll go the way Yahoo! Stores went with their endless SEPPLES hell, if not, I wish them luck and hopefully they'll be employing more Lispers like ITA did!
