Is there any difference between........

....a Senior Programmer, a software/programming consultant and a software engineer?

Seriously? Don't they usually overlap? And don't you still need to spend years as a programmer before?

The silence in this thread prompts the question:

Is there any of /prog/ with more than 3 years of experience in the industry?

Or even...

Is there any of /prog/ with experience at all besides University or hobby shit?

Define "industry". I wrote code for internal use for several years, and got paid, so yes, I have had experience.

Look up the terms "consultant" and "senior", and you'll pretty much have the answer to your question.

Judging by >>1's name, and the apparent expectation of multiple replies in a few minutes, I have a suspicion that he is one of the people that came here via /b/ and should go back there, please.
