A modest proposal

since
1. Most replies are used with sage nowadays
2. Old threads rarely need to be bumped
it is proposed that
no replies will bump a thread

here's a better proposal: a 1 bump per hour per ip limit.

Another proposal:
Remove the name and email fields.

Actually we should remove the entire data line beside the post number.
it should be like:
1 Some text.

While the thread limit is 1000, without bumping and consequently necrobumping, the limit could be raised.

Another proposal:
Learn how to use subject.txt like Shii intended.

Also, add real-time update inside the thread(like in chat)

For that matter, let's ditch HTTP and just do the whole thing over IRC.

and call it
AnonTalk

Whats the average post length on /prog/?
less than 255? It would be replaced with twitter-type board.

The BEST posts are those over 255 chars.

Exactly why we need to limit it to 140 chars.

@16 the only posts >255char are idiot code samples, talkative idiots and memes; i think @15 has the best idea

If you count the number of posts over 255 characters in lenght,
each of them could be easily made by splitting the posts into smaller 255 byte chunks. Thus 255 limit is useful, and protects against spam/garbage stealing bandwidth.

If its twitter-type board will each thread have a RSS feed?

Should the character limit ignore formatting? I'm not sure it's fair to miss out on SexpCode pong just because of a character limit.

Waste of bandwidth. Why would you need an update to something that changes once per month or is real-time like

I would certainly write a BBS but how would anyone host a C program? Most webhosts only offer Python/Ruby/PHP

Rebuttal:
1. That change would turn Shiichan into an anonymous usenet group with bbcode.
2. Move to alt.sicp and write a sexpcode plugin for slrn.
