Even my father read SICP a couple of decades ago (or more).
I went through his Uni-books today and he showed me "programstruktur" (program structure) and told me that "this is the most important book about programming you will ever read son".
And yes, it was indeed SICP but in swedish.

SICP simply teaches you LISP. That's all. And please don't give me that "It teaches you the theory of structure and interpretation of programs, that can be applied to ANY language. It simply chose LISP because it has a simple syntax, and yet teaches you to think in a different way" bullshit. I've read SICP. Did the exercises. Watched lectures. All I got from it was the language.
