i think we need a top level domain name for communities. like organisations have their .org, shops have their .com and so on.

.com is for commercial purposes. However, with the tech bubble virtually anything was dot com and it lost its original meaning.
.org was intended for non-commercial websites and .net as a meta-domain for all related to Internet services.
