Free JAVA course, [Y] or [N]?

I am being given the opportunity to take a course in JAVA for free from my house.
I know a little bit of VB.
Should I take it?
What does /prog/ think of JAVA? Could I use it to widen my horizons and understand more of programming?

Take it if you want, but Java is the worst language on the JVM

They are not the same language. If you want to do web programming in Java, you can, but I wouldn't. Off the top of my head, I can't think of any websites I visit that use Java applets, and I didn't even bother to install a Java Plugin this time around.
