Code for clicking icons/moving cursor

Name: Anonymous 2010-05-23 8:29

A friend told me that Apple patented either of the two things mentioned in the subject. So MS had to code a very verbose workaround so that they didn't infringe on Apple's patent. Is this true or HIBT?

Go look it up yourself, then take your thread back to /g/ where it belongs.

Patends are retarded, so I wouldn't be surprised if most basic things are patented, especially in the US.

Not OP, but wow yeah that's helpful, prick. Just have to look up "mouse clicking" or "icon clicking" or something, I'm sure he'll find what he's looking for after a few dozen queries, and if not then he can probably... well, he can be FAIRLY sure that the patent doesn't exist, not that he just didn't enter the right query to find it. And once he has the patent he can just use his powers of divination to determine if Microsoft did or did not have to work around it, and what the code they came up with looked like.

OR -- and bear with me because this is pretty crazy -- he can post it on a discussion board, where people are supposed to discuss things rather than just yell LMGTFY at anyone whose question they don't happen to like.

Gosh, isn't this programming discussion.

I suppose he could wing it if he actually started with proof of this "workaround" and posted mouse code for us to compare.

To be fair I did bing it, though all I found was a patent of a horizontal scroll mouse
