Why only chordates? Many cephalopods have a nervous system at least as developed as most chordates, and there's good evidence some of the higher arthropods feel pain as well.
This license is highly inadequate.

I also strongly disagree with the absence of the Oxford comma in ``mammals, fishes and birds''.

I'm sorry, but I just don't see how you can call this license permissive. By removing Freedom 0, it's as unpermissive as the GPL.
