there are lots of jokes about perl's insane syntax, but it's not really hated since every other "scripting language" is worse. ruby is just slow as fuck, other than that it's just a slightly more fucked up perl. HTML5 is a lot better than the
ENTERPRISE bullshit that was going to be XHTML 2.0. CSS is a hell of a lot better than what it replaced.
