I have to write a medium-sized Java app with a group of people who have very limited experience with programming. As you might have guessed, it's a college assignment.
I'm sure most of you have gone through similar things. So... any advice?
They're not bad guys or anything so I think they would be open to criticism.

I've been through it. Ultimately I decided that I'll do that myself and they will pay me to credit them. It's a win-win, I get money and don't have to cope with idiots, and they didn't have to write OMG SERIOUS application.

First, make sure you take control as the group leader.
Presumably, you've worked on enough projects of your own that you can foresee what this needs.
If you need to use UML diagrams in this class, just produce some and give them to your code monkies. Otherwise, try to create java-class-oriented tasks for them.
Make yourself the coder that glues it all together, typing up loose ends left by the lazy ones who ignore your assignments or working on parts that only a genius of your caliber can comprehend.
