Corporate douchebags trying to save face:

McAfee is aware that a number of customers have incurred a false positive error due to this release. We believe that this incident has impacted less than one half of one percent of our enterprise accounts globally and a fraction of that within the consumer base–home users of products such as McAfee VirusScan Plus, McAfee Internet Security Suite and McAfee Total Protection. That said, if you’re one of those impacted, this is a significant event for
you and we understand that.

For one, McAfee sucks, usually more than other mainstream AVs, although all AVs suck. The problem itself seems annoying, but it's not like it's that hard to fix - just find a copy of the removed file if it was deleted, otherwise restore it. Since it's a system executable, this shouldn't be much of a problem, but it is an annoyance.

Install Mac OS, problem solved.

The right solution isn't to change your current OS (whatever it may be). In this case, if you need to use an Windows OS, understand how you can secure it without needing any active AntiVirus protection. Too bad, you can't ask such a thing from random corporate drones, which is why they have to use an AV, and which is why they're in this situation.

lol, how do you like having an operating system that's slow as fuck on a 3GHz dual-core processor?
6.1 is much better, it's actually a bit faster than 5.1 on the 5-year-old machine i'm using it on right now.

<interactive>:1:0:
    No instance for (OS (b -> b -> c))
      arising from the literal `learn2unix' at <interactive>:1:0
    Possible fix: add an instance declaration for (OS (b -> b -> c))
    In the first argument of `on', namely `learn2unix'
    In the expression: learn2unix `on` windows
    In the definition of `it': it = learn2unix `on` windows

if you're asking about my machine, it's great... once i've figured out which features need to be turned off to keep ati's crappy driver happy. for example, guild wars runs great with every setting except antialiasing on the highest setting and antialiasing off, but as soon as i turn on antialiasing it becomes unbearably slow even if all the other settings are as low as they go. but in other games, antialiasing works just fine. but that's not a problem with hardware or with the os, that's just ati not being able to code for shit. it's also the reason why i'm running windows instead of freebsd or linux... the ati drivers available for those platforms that support this card crash every few minutes even if the machine is just sitting idle...

if you're asking about vista, don't even try it unless you have a 3GHz dual-core processor and 4GB of RAM, and even then you'd better have the graphics settings in whatever games you want to play turned down pretty low.
