Meditation and Programming

I am quite interested in starting a mindfulness meditation routine, but I am a little worried. As a means to attaining a 'peaceful mind', mindfulness meditation aims to silence your inner thought dialog and keep your focus on the hear and the now. I am worried that getting rid of that inner dialog will cause me to be a less effective programmer. Its that spaced out, off in my own world, thinking to myself kind of state that I utilize to solve programming problems. Am I in danger of hurting my skills as a programmer by practicing this?

Meditation serves to silence the useless thoughts that disturb you. You will not get rid of your inner dialog unless you want to, infact you can even enhance it by meditation which can increase your focus and help you visualize thoughts.
There are many diffrent ways and practices of meditation, you can maybe even find some that are programming related.
