Ran is a fox youkai (monster deamond thing) who is Yukari Yakumo's shikigami. (like a summoning animal from Naruto just Ran is always there and not just randomly summoned) She dose all the chores around the house while Yukari sleeps for 12 hours and has a shikigami of her own named Chen. (another on of my favorites)
