There's /prog/scrape and there's the json interface. Shiichan is open source and translating the db from /prog/scrape to shiichan's text format shouldn't be that hard. Or you could make something else.
It really is a terrible pile of code. Comes from Shii being a dimwitted idiot who majored in religious studies instead of a programmer, I think.

Why would you want to use shitchan as the basis? Reimplementing the parts relevant to /prog/ -- without all the crappiness -- in a decent language would take two days, max. That would also provide for a decent means to actually improve the codebase.

I'm not talking about literal indentations, I'm talking about indenting as it applies to text editing and programming.
