Im trying to promote my site by putting it in peoples firefox bookmarks toolbar. How do I do this with .bat or something else that only involves notepad? What are some other sneeky ways I can promote it?
It would be reaonsably easy thing to do in almost any browser with bookmark support, but anyone would be able to figure out how to do it if they had half a brain, also your action would also be annoying, but the greater question is how are you going to get the users to run this nasty code in the first place.

by putting it in a torrent. I'll use a self extracting archive useing winrar, I'll add the real installers icon to the sfx file to make it look more legite, then I will silently launch a .bat file after or before the installer for the program they want.
I know I have to do something like copy file.txt %userprofile%\Desktop
but how do I do this for firefox or IE? the profile folder where the bookmarks are located has a unique name for every user. Also how would I mae this cross OS friendly, xp, vista, windows 7.
Have you even put an ounce of thought into the horizontally scalable aspects of your architecture? How can you enable the potential of your end users if you don't even have a cohesive plan?
You're not taking this seriously, so neither am I.
Wow, your marketing idea is to make a torrent of some malware that adds a bookmark to your site. Surely this is an elaborate troll. Sage it with fire.
Side note, why the fuck is this place suddenly full of childish idiots who can't even spell? These asinine quasi-programming threads are worse than the neckbeard trolls.
I suggest looking at how they do this on /b/. I imagine that would be the most productive route.

I'm not that person but please shut the fuck up already. Yes, we all know futaba uses sage in a different way. No one cares. Sage means other thing here, on 4chan. Whether you like it or not.

Right, that's why for every moron going "sage this shit" there's a dozen other posts using it properly. Conflating the imageboards and the textboards is a rookie mistake.

..Or is it cultural diffusion? Consider if textboards had an English-only rule, and majority of newcomers spoke Spanish.
