Hey /prog/, what's your opinion on Vala [1]? I know Gnome sounds terrifying, yet an idea of a C preprocessor giving all those OOP "magic" sounds interesting. What do you think?

I can program happily in a pseudo-OOP if I like in C already without having to use something that ``is similar to C#'', so I won't find much need for it.

It's probably better than using GObject in C, which is again better than C++. But then again, what isn't?

I was going to say Java, but I stopped myself.  At least you can map everything in Java.  I consider myself a decent C++ programmer but I keep finding things that I and a number of people I work with knew nothing about.
