I'll second Crockford's butterfly book. It's nice and concise, explaining the parts of JS that set it apart. I haven't read the fat O'Reilly JS reference book. I think the same author of that wrote the Ruby book, and that's quite good.

MDC pages are an okay reference to some of the weirder library stuff.

There no good "current" books on JS. Just google the parts you need.
