Creative?

Name: Anonymous 2010-01-24 16:23

Why the fuck is /prog/ listed under "Creative" on the front page?

Name: Anonymous 2010-01-24 16:28

You've obviously never created a complex program. I highly suggest you take a class on it, you may find it fun (as a good amount of us do).

Name: Anonymous 2010-01-24 16:35

Not all of us are script kiddies.
Keep in mind that the ones who are creative make up for those who aren't.

I was just trying to say that /prog/ is under "Creative" because a good amount of programming relies on creativity and problem-solving skills :3

Even those who aren't creative rely on the creativity of those who are, as you said.

Name: Anonymous 2010-01-24 19:22

people who claim to be creative are just losers who have no positive traits.
for instance, a 35 yearold who has been working by restocking shelves at a supermarket for 25 years: "i may not be too smart, but i am creative; i even once considered becoming an artist".
for instance, a poster on /r9k/: "yeah, i flunked out of highschool, i'm fat, unemployed, and have no friends, but i'm really creative. i'm sure i'll be famous one day because of my creativity"

that's a creative point of view

I think that OP might have been a victim of prolonged programming in an ENTERPRISE language, or some variant of BASIC. It can really fuck you up.

Would you recommend some SICP?

Name: Anonymous 2010-01-25 1:37

Because programmers make things.

Back to /sci/, please.

Name: Anonymous 2010-01-25 2:35

It should be in Adult (18+ )

Name: Anonymous 2010-01-25 11:46

>>12
You're right, we should keep children away from all the cuddering and anus haxxing that's going on here.

>>11
I've only posted like 3 times in /sci/.  /prog/ is way better.

Name: Anonymous 2010-01-25 12:44

Probably because programming requires a form of creativity ?

Name: Anonymous 2010-01-25 19:08

>>15
have you tried replacing programmers with artists?

Name: Anonymous 2010-01-25 19:19

>>16
Yes, and they successfully brought innovation to the field.

Name: Anonymous 2010-01-26 5:07

An artist sees a complete vision: a statue of naked roman goddess.
A programmer has a vague notion of what a roman goddess is and a rough blueprint for sculpting something resembling it.

You said the same thing twice!

Name: Anonymous 2010-01-26 7:52

>>19
Thats what programmers think.

If you were in front of me right now I'd break your fucking nose. I don't care if you are a man, woman or fucking single celled amoeba. If all you can do is insult people, I suggest you fuck off and die.

Name: Anonymous 2010-01-26 8:11

Thats what programmers do.

single celled amoeba
But how would you know where's the nose?

Name: Anonymous 2010-01-26 9:22

>>18
lol.
you are an idiot.
artists see the exact same things as we do, they just have more experience painting pretty pictures and publicly circle jerking about how super awesome "creative" they are.
put simply, they're normal people with huge egos and are good at deceiving fools.
in this way, yes, Lispers and artists DO have a lot in common PAUL WAS RIGHT!.

/prog/ poster and /i/ painter here, where's your god now?

Ohhh, Satori...

Name: Anonymous 2010-01-26 9:50

and my point is proven.
yay

Name: Anonymous 2010-01-26 9:59

>>27

glad tto be your example.

Name: Anonymous 2010-01-26 10:44

When did 'creative' have to link to traditional art ?
When faced with an uncommon problem finding a solution is being creative.
Is hacking (mit sense) not doing stuff the clever way, is that not creative ?

Name: Anonymous 2010-01-26 11:20

>>29
It's not considered creative because 'Artists' have a preconceived notion of what is, and what is not, creative.

Name: Anonymous 2010-01-26 11:22

>>30
And when did artists decide the meaning of words ?

Name: Anonymous 2010-01-26 12:14

>>31
Since they hijacked philosophy and replaced linguistics with PURE ARTISTIC INTERPRETATION CRUSHING SCIENTIST SCUM ONCE AND FOR ALL

Name: Anonymous 2010-01-26 14:27

>>30
You have a preconceived notion of what 'Artists' have preconceived notions about.

Name: Anonymous 2010-01-26 14:37

>>33
You are now having preconceived notions manually.

Name: Anonymous 2010-01-26 16:44

>>34
It may be you that thinks >>33 has preconceived notions about >>30 having preconveived notions of what 'Artists' have preconveived notions about. For all we know, WABT.
