Best Free Anti-virus Software

Not sure if this is the most appropriate forum, but I was wondering if anyone can recommend a decent freeware anti-virus software.

Been using Avast and was told there are better alternatives...

anti-virus is so not the solution.

but, i've had good experiences with eset's work. pretty lightweight in my estimation.
