A forum that doesn't suck this much

Name: Anonymous 2009-11-25 0:06

/prog/ fucking sucks. It's being spam flooded, years-old threads keep getting bumped, lispers keep trolling everything, non-existent mods even to fix forum exploits, and the rest is just idiots asking for help with their homework.

Is there another board, forum, newsgroup, mailing list, *something* where intelligent people can have programming discussions without quite so much bullshit?

The thing is, I hate most places because of the lack of anonymity. I hate having to have a handle; it breeds exclusionist communities that rely on reputation and loyalty instead of actual argument. I hate power-tripping mods who get off on locking threads and giving 'warnings' if you get too off-topic. These places are not enjoyable to frequent. They are frustrating and grating on the nerves, and the social aspects are more important than the actual technical discussion.

Where else do you go to hang out and talk about /prog/ramming?

Everything is a trade off. You can try and build your perfect place from scratch but it is a foolish endeavor. Give up, the utopia message board you seek exists only in your head.

Xarn and Christopher used to have boards too, but they're both gone now and I feel kind of bad about it :(
