DNS BS for 4chan

Name: Anonymous 2009-11-17 1:25

posting on /prog/ because the only activity on /tech/ is spam...

All of a sudden I can't access most 4chan severs. I can get to dis, rs and www, but that is it. All the others get me in a URL redirection loop. Firefox says:

>The page isn't redirecting properly

>Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.

I can ping zip, img, etc just fine, it is just in the browser that this seems to happen. Any ideas?

They work fine here. How about you use a packet sniffer to see what is actually going on?

SNIFF MY ANUS

hmmm, it's a series of "HTTP 302 Moved Temporarily" errors pointing to http://img.4chan.org/z/imgboard.html

302 doesn't seem like an accident

I *was* involved in a thread that could have got me banned, but why wouldn't I just get a regular ban page?

Maybe you should kindly ask 4chan's staff on their irc channel for help?

Name: Anonymous 2009-11-17 1:50

maybe. A few hours ago it seemed like hardly anyone was awake in there. can't hurt to try though. Thanks.

Did you clear your DNS cache, removed any entries you might have in your host file, and attempted to resolve some server's you can't access IP address, then compared it with what other servers are reporting the IP address to be?

nothing relevent in hosts, not running nscd, dnstools.com resovles img and zip to the same IPs as my system does

and furthermore, I don't think dns has anything to do with it, 302 comes strictly from httpd AFAIK

no love on #4chan, mods are sleeping/playing L4D2

I used to have the wrong IP in my hosts file for one of the servers, and when I tried accessing inexistent boards on that server it went into a redirect loop, so incorrectly resolving one 4chan server's IP to another 4chan server's IP could cause such a problem too.

I guess now the only question is how long it lasts

Don't change these.
