My dad works at Prentice Hall and he told me that there were talks with K&R to release the book next year.

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-17 18:59

I hope it includes a dubstep remix of the Pointers and Arrays chapter.

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-17 19:00

I will not be trolled so easily, Anonymous-kun.

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-17 19:01

awesome.
i look forward to this

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-17 19:44

Is this the one textbook with "conjure the spirits of the computer" because I love that one song /prog/ did xD

BAD TROLL, BAD!
GET BACK TO YOUR BRIDGE

You seem to have made a mistake in your post. By prioritizing >>5 over >>1 when calling out a troll makes it seem almost like you don't believe that >>1 is trolling. For future reference, calling out troll posts in a troll-made thread is like saying there is water in the ocean, in that it is somewhat redundant.

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-17 20:12

>>7
how do you know it's a troll?
is it so implausible that K&R finally gets an update to cover ANSI C?

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-17 20:23

>>8
>Is it so implausible that K&R finally gets an updated cover?
This would be the most important.

I vote for a topless Sussman on the front cover.

this looks disturbingly like the sepples book.

It needs a woodcut and pleasing squares on the cover, just like SICP and SICM.

I'm going to use this for the cover of the LaTeX version I'm working on. Thanks.

The books will not make you a programmer,
not matter how much time you repeat exercises in that book.
You could save trees and money if you learned things yourself.

i lol'd.
it's funny because you're a horrible horrible "programmer" who can't use anything except javascript without falling flat on your face.
nobody sane would ever take your advice. infact, any sane person would do the opposite of what you tell them.

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-18 20:10

>>20
Really?  I think his advice is pretty sensible.

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-18 20:19

Is there a subtle joke I'm not getting here? >>11 was pretty obvious but this one isn't.

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-18 21:11

>>22
No, there is no subtle joke.
The joke is the weeaboo background.

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-18 21:28

>>22
The subtle joke is that it's over-the-top obnoxious.

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-18 21:31

Yes.  That is an anime character.  Lain is an anime character.  Lain likes Lisp.  Lisp is > C.  These were my intentions when designing that book cover.

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-18 21:56

>>25
So... Lain's a meme now, too?

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-18 21:57

>>26
Don't say that, or it will make it True

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-18 21:59

>>27
....Are you trying to rhyme?

Don't fuck with me, I don't have the Time

Lies. I designed the cover, and my sole intention was to honour the great nation of Japan.

At first I lol'd, but then I saw the timestamps. Then I sadfaced.

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-18 22:07

too much fail. im going to sleep.

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-18 22:19

There's a trend in Japan right now of slapping pictures of anime girls on stale shit fine consumer products that have been around for a while, so as to renew interest in said products and, subsequently, boost their sales.

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-18 22:30

>>13 here. I just wanted to make K&R more appealing for the younger generation.

Same person, and we have been trolled constantly.

Ahaha fail

it's not even close to sensible.
but hey, take up his style of learning. doom yourself to become an incompetent programmer.
;) it just means that there's one less person for me to compete with.

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-18 23:23

>>39
What's you're fucking problem punk§

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-18 23:23

>>38
You would know this isn't true if you had a modicum of sense (I know, I know, IHBT, but bear with me). Ignorance more frequently begets confidence than knowledge does. An incompetent programmer that can oversell their skills will beat you to the high paying jobs.

I assume what's what you're referring to with "compete," because there's no other reason that it would matter.
