Hello, denizens of /prog/ ! I wish to program the Zilog Z80 microprocessor. How does one acquire such a skill? Are there any Z80 programmers out there who can impart advice, or perhaps the title of a useful text? Many thanks, teachers and fellow pupils.

Why don't you grab some manuals and learn the instruction set and architecture? There's also probably a bunch of old tutorials about it too.

well the most obvious solution that comes to mind is to write a lisp interpreter in z80 assembler, and then write programs in lisp

zilog.com
They have cheap demo boards available (mouser.com digikey.com) for like $40, comes with a C compiler and everything.

Why would you even want to compile C for the Z80?

You don't have to. Use the assembler if you want. Who gives a fuck?

Because trying to write any decent sized project in asm is a pain in my engorged labia.
