Lisp stronger than ever!

Hey baby, we're taking the world by storm and there's no turning back. Flash-in-the-pan educational languages like Python and Haskell are hemorrhaging users on a daily basis, because they're seeing the light, man, they're learning what interactive development means. They'd never heard of it before and now they're flocking to US, baby, they're coming HERE, and they're gonna get sit up.

As much as I love Lisp, I don't think it'll ever become mainstream, but why care? We can keep using it to solve our problems, while they'll keep using whatever they want.

Agreed. I do think we should go around letting everyone know that we're better than them, though.

>>3 Whan i look at Linux,LISP or countless other projects, that one quality strikes me down as common to all of them:
the majority of users think X is 'acquired taste' and anyone who is against them is having inferior taste in X.
Obviously when you get expert at X you will look at all the less capable Y's as inferior, but you ignore the time you learned to become proficient at X is absent in Y's. The Linux/Lisp/GIMP camp would say its automatically better because its free and open-source, but these qualities are nothing for most people. Warez and reverse-engineering/hacks/cracks/serials practically eliminate all the advantages of such software.

I don't see how piracy helps you solving unsolved problems.

I'm not talking about "solving problems" per se i'm talking about software advocacy and LISP is excellent example of it.

I'm not talking about "solving problems"
That was his point. What does piracy have to do with solving problems, the driving force behind any programming language, not just LISP.

>>7 The driving force behind every language is marketing. And it rests on the features and advantages of the said languages. Programmers don't take bullshit marketing claims kindly and "solving problems" isn't a unique feature.
LISP wouldn't be anymore popular if your "driving force" is "solving problems". Anyone can solve problems in any language.

I'm considering turning on my FV filter again, such low quality posts.
