Distro for real men

Suppose you are a good programmer (as I guess everyone in this board should be). What unix system (lunix distro or *bsd) would you use in order to satisfy your needs and proclaim a real Hacker of the Code?

hardcore elitism? i think not.
it's not difficult to get everything working properly.
it is typical of an ubanto user to be afraid of using a shell with a pretty GUI though.
