IHBT.

Anyone running linux on their so called 'rigs' might as well be using a paper weight.

Name: Anonymous 2009-08-10 17:07

minimal Gentoo
We'll just regard you as an Ubantard unless you post you're CFLAGS .

Name: Anonymous 2009-08-10 17:11

Heh. ``Rigs''.
I take it you got into programming because you want to write games, and then gave up when you couldn't get hello world to compile?

YHBT.

"rigs"

A rig has 18 wheels and hauls cargo.

I have boxes at home. Where I work I maintain (build, break, babysit) 1000's of boxes. Yes and they run Ubuntu, >>5-kun can go smoke his rice.

boxen
Fixed that for you're.

Name: Anonymous 2009-08-10 17:52

If you maintain thousands of boxes you don't need your USB printer to "just work". You need security, stability and control. You need Debian, Slackware or OpenBSD.

Name: Anonymous 2009-08-10 17:58

Debian doesn't have the long term service distro the Ubuntu has. *BSD and Slax are for certain applications but also doesn't scale up well, nor are ports and tgz upgrade optimal for 1000's of boxen. apt-get or rpms (+puppet+svn+dhcpd)allow for rollouts and upgrades of mass numbers of boxen

Also ENTERPRISE LEVEL security is not the concern of the O/S, but rather of little n+1 redundant boxen labeled Cisco and Juniper.

Why would I want to run an OS that runs on oil rigs?

Name: Anonymous 2009-08-10 19:12

>>14
Presumably because you either were an oil rig or envied one its OS.

Why do my are CFLAGS matter when I don't give a shit about Linux and barely have any apps installed? It's just an environment for the emulator to run on.

Name: Anonymous 2009-08-10 20:41

Why are many of you talking like Frozen Void? Maybe I just didn't notice it before.

Name: Anonymous 2009-08-10 20:50

because he only gets ignored or insulted when he posts with a trip, so sometimes he posts anonymously.
PROTIP: every post that you think sounds like him, IS him

This is what FrozenVoid actually believes.

in manner
education

What are you talking about?  BSD works best in cluster environments; it's a bit of a hassle to do the planning and management required for just one server, but once it's done, it's done.

Name: Anonymous 2009-08-11 1:05

>>20 there are also political concerns involved in the ENTERPRISE ENVIRONMENT. Some decisions about the business are not yours to make.

Let's talk about it sometime when you actually have a job and have set foot in a data center some time shall we?

Debian Stable has a longer support cycle than Ubuntu's LTS releases.

you are the stupidest person on /prog/, bar none.

i'm not joking.
GET OUT.
fv does not write in an "educated manner", he writes like an arrogant teenager who thinks he knows everything. his posts are full of hypocrisy and blatant stupidity.
the closest thing to writing in an "educated manner" he does is stealing quotes from wikipedia

Name: Anonymous 2009-08-11 1:48

>>27 and how does that make you feel?

Name: Anonymous 2009-08-11 1:55

good actually.
i enjoy pointing out his mistakes and insulting him; it's rather therapeutic. hell, it's almost orgasmic when i taunt him until he gets to the point that he has a girly little hissy fit and tries to "destroy 4chan", as he has done on many many many occasions.
knowing that he is crying like a baby makes me hard as a rock.
