Dwarf Fortress is an enormous programming failure. I still remember how somebody wrote an OpenGL wrapper for it which doubled its performance (yes, it uses fucking OpenGL, can you believe that?)

It's the typical program that you could run through a profiler and make about 50 times faster in a few hours.

It makes me want to puke. A shame because the game looks somewhat interesting otherwise.
