Every industry has one. The free-thinking rebel that redefines the rules. He says what no-one else will say and does what no-one else will do. Fuelled by raw passion, he seizes an art form by the throat and drags it to its apex. What they invented, he makes it sing. His peers hate him but the public love his style. At once he intimidates and inspires; breaking down the walls that secure some yet block others. Welcome to MDickie.com - home of the games industry's first true 3-dimensional character! Whether he's the "hero" or the "villain" depends entirely on your perspective...

Look at this badass motherfucker, /prog/. You'll never be as cool as him if you only keep making toy programs.

Holy crap, that was a bad idea, and very short-sighted on my part.  Oh well, hopefully Mat Dickie will reply to my email like Sussman did to that other guy.  I don't think that Dickie posting here is very likely anyways.

He has made it clear that he doesn't care about you.

I have to admit, your e-mail didn't surprise me in the slightest. Being a man who singlehandedly revolutionized the game industry, I'm used to being praised.

Please continue with your "cult of personality" way of thinking; it's inspiring and ultimately constructive.

Your reaction is perfectly understandable. I believe you'd love to read more of what I have to say; please visit my blog, Mat's Musings, at http://www.mdickie.com/blog.htm.

It was the title of his biography, “inspiration for the interactive generation”.  Any elite hacker would have guessed that.

Yeah I totally would not have posted the MD5 if I had just thought about it for a few seconds.

Anyways, I'll keep /prog/ updated on any emails I receive from The Mighty M. Dickie

Dickie

Name: Anonymous 2009-11-16 18:14

you should have asked him how his whole replace scientists with artists thing is going.
( ≖‿≖)

Name: Anonymous 2009-11-16 18:45

you know, Matt Dickie probably spends so much time googling himself that he has already seen this thread.

Name: Anonymous 2009-11-17 8:13

Okay, Mat would like to have a word with you;

What now? Are you man enough to accept the challenge?

1. Have you read your SICP today?

Name: Anonymous 2009-11-17 8:35

>>221 is actually a valid question, without the 'today'.

Name: Anonymous 2009-11-17 8:41

2. Mr. Dickie, when did your first homosexual experience occur?

Name: Anonymous 2009-11-17 8:49

>>220
ha ha ha, wow. awesome.
you guys actually emailed him? i thought that was a joke.

Question: Explain in detail how you intend to "replace scientists with artists", as well as how that could possibly ever work in the real world.

Name: Anonymous 2009-11-17 9:10

[b]Question:[b] Which do you prefer ANSI Fjölnir or ISO Fjölnir? Does he prefer the IFC or the GFC? And most importantly of all, How often do you "GRUNNUR"?

Name: Anonymous 2009-11-17 9:19

It's because if he replys directly to us then he can't edit the questions to suit his will.
Also, he can't spend 6 hours formulating a reply.

Three questions so far.

And I add the fourth, ``What is the role of functional languages in replacing scientists with artists''?

Name: Anonymous 2009-11-17 9:45

Question: Isn't the cult of personality around you destructive to your career?

Name: Anonymous 2009-11-17 9:48

>>229
lol.
Nope. He's the only member of that cult of personality.

Name: Anonymous 2009-11-17 9:53

holy crap guys, he actually emailed me.  (ps. I am not >>220 , I didn't know another /prog/rider had emailed him)

http://i37.tinypic.com/2mrxw8j.png

I would have been happy to engage, but I noticed the thread was ill-natured and immature.

I also noticed my interviews were denounced as "fictitious". In an effort to simultaneously disprove THAT and many other baseless claims, I would like to invite them to confront me with an interview of their own? Simply have them compile the top 10 questions they sincerely want answered (or statements they sincerely want to make) and I will respond to those publicly on my website...

I can't believe he is seriously going to let us ask him any 10 questions that he will answer on his website.

Ok /prog/, let's get these 10 questions together.

Have you read your SICP today?
Mr. Dickie, when did your first homosexual experience occur?
Explain in detail how you intend to "replace scientists with artists", as well as how that could possibly ever work in the real world.
What is the role of functional languages in replacing scientists with artists?

We'll vote on the best 10 I guess.

if only to see what his reaction is

Question: What is your other car?

Name: Anonymous 2009-11-17 10:04

Question: If you had to, nay, MUST make a choice between having sex in your life or having programming, which would you choose?

Name: Anonymous 2009-11-17 10:05

>>231
Hello, >>220 here. Would you mind if it was I who will send him these questions, once they are decided on?

Name: Anonymous 2009-11-17 10:07

>>236
Perhaps!  You should post all the emails you had with M. Dickie.

And why do you have a Milkribs email if you are not Sir Milkribs!?

Name: Anonymous 2009-11-17 10:09

Ill-natured and immature? Or UNSCIENTIFIC AND ULTIMATELY DESTRUCTIVE

Name: Anonymous 2009-11-17 10:12

It is one of my "sockpuppet" (hehe sock) email accounts, used to sent mails to the Sussman, Leah Culver, that biologist Sussman, Patrick Collision, and FrozenVoid. And I took Anusman's name because it was free and what I was doing at the moment, trolling the anus.
