I'd like to get familiar with forth what compiler you recommend?
I just want to check how fast it is for simple programs.

Welcome to the wonderful world of choosing between commercial implementations and half-assed GNU jobs. It's like I'm really programming in APL.

If you're looking for speed you should get a native code Forth compiler, like bigFORTH or the one from Forth Inc (It isn't free but I think it has a demo version. Oh, and it's Windows only). I like GForth (a threaded code Forth compiler) better, though, because it's ANS Forth compliant.

Charles Moore left off on Color FORTH (he was going blind, so he added color to the syntax). He wrote an OS and drivers and application set in less than 256KB.

Paraphrasing Terry Loveall, a prefessional FORTH programmer and
compiler designer, who actually said nobody simplified as brutally as Moore.

BTW, colorFORTH runs on the bare metal. Rather than write variations specific to different PCs, people are running it
on emualtors like QEMU, BOCHS, etc.

He only writes what he will actually need, which, as it turns out, is very little. Few people (that use computers) are as frugal as he is, so writing minimal, higly speciallized OS, drivers and application set is not that hard.

His code is still a study in factoring. He's been eliminating
redundancy for decades and he's good at it. It's worth imitating to some degree because complex code is expensive in many ways.
Apparently I went to Japan to take a class in "gun control." But the first few days of classes is all squirting each other with water pistols and even plastic syringes. During one of the classes I overhear classmates saying they want to go to the club after class. I deduce that the club is actually the arcade at the mall. The group needed one more person for some reason, and I was about to volunteer myself, but I notice one of my classmates on the other side of the room looks like a girl I knew in elementary school.

I never really understood how people can sleep with people they aren't intimate with, although I guess you were with your ex. Do you just call each other up every now and then for a roll in the hay, or do you have to go through the politeness of having coffee or some shit first?
