Enterprise Gov'ment Programming

Name: Anonymous 2009-07-24 20:26

So I got a job as a programmer at a government facility, and they use ENTERPRISE QUALITY solutions: MUMPS, Caché Server Pages and Java. And they also expect me to know UML.

My first problem is I don't know anything about object oriented programming, let alone diagram sketching languages.

My second problem is I'm asking /prog/ for help.

Any hints for quickly mastering the OOP paradigm? Does anyone here work with these obscure languages they use?

Just think structs with functions in them, that's enough to begin with.

MUMPS... I'd rather not.

OO is pretty simple.
just think of everything is an object.
Java
Does anyone here work with these obscure languages they use?

f()
  new x
  do g()
  write x
  quit

g()
  set x = 5
  quit

do f()

This will print 5 to the terminal.
GOTTA LOVE CACHÉ!

I'm not from the US, and in my country there's a kind of public contest for gov'ment job vacancies. I took a test and waited for a while.

OP here, I'm diving deep into MUMPS (or rather, Caché Object Script). You guys have no idea how much it sucks. :(
