SICP is an arcane manual for how to murder newbies by shoving torpedos up their urethras
SICP is simply the best introductory textbook around.. The joke is that nobody on /prog/ has ever GOT PAST beginner programmer stage (no matter how many times they read SICP). Anyway it seriously is a great book I do highly recommend it.
