Starting out

I want to begin coding. The way I see it there's two ways:

1. Traditional method.

HTML--->Java Script--->C/C++--->Python, Perl--->Haskel, Seppels, LISP

2.[spoierl]prog[/spoiler] method.

Read SICP

I want to know how the hell you can know all languages just from SICP.

Dear /prog/,

If I learned BASIC on a Commodore 64 when I was 6 but then didn't touch computers again until I was 20 and didn't get back into programming until i was 22, am I screwed?
